How to use bin packing calculator
This step-by-step guide explains how to use the online bin packing calculator for calculating the most optimal packing of items in multiple bins.
1. Enter items you want to pack into bins

You start by entering items you want to pack. For each item you need to specify the following:
- ID - The item's name or ID, e.g. shoes, plates, cups.
- Length - The item's length.
- Width - The item's width.
- Height - The item's height.
- Quantity - The number of items to be packed.
- Lock - Indicates whether the item is horizontally locked. If checked, the item will not be flipped on the side. This is intended for fragile or upright-only items.
- Color - The item's color in the 3D visualization.
Note that dimensions are specified only as numbers without units. It’s only important that all dimensions for all items and bins are entered in the same unit. E.g. meters (m), centimeters (cm), feet (ft), inches (in), etc.
2. Specify bin sizes

Next you need to specify bin dimensions:
- ID - The bin's name or ID, e.g. large box, small box.
- Length - The bin's length.
- Width - The bin's width.
- Height - The bin's height.
3. Calculate the result

Once you have entered all items and specified bin sizes, just click on the "Pack" button to calculate the best packing option. After the calculation is completed, the results will be shown in the table below the button, with the following values displayed:
- # - The packed bin order number.
- ID - The bin's name or ID.
- Volume - How much of the bin's volume was packed.
- Items - The number of items packed.
- Visualization - Clicking on the icon will open a 3D view of the packed bin.

By clicking on the left and right arrow icons at the bottom, you can see the order in which items are packed in the bin. Each item type is shown in the color assigned to it in the items table.
